I’ve lost count of the many holidays I’ve had in Bali. Bali is one of those places that everyone can enjoy but the experience is very unique to the individual. Whilst I know it can be a cheap and cheerful holiday for most people, we go to Bali to really indulge.
One of my favourite hotels is The Legian in Seminyak. Not to be confused by another hotel called The Legian Beach Hotel in Legian. The Legian Seminyak is part of The Leading Hotels of the World. The architecture and interior is modern asian. Regardless of where we are holidaying, I really like the hotel to have a strong sense of the destination. Having said that, I love all the little luxuries, so if a hotel can balance traditional decor with a modern twist, then I’m in hotel heaven!
If you think Bali and think a cold Bintang (the local beer) and a bowl of nasi goreng then trust me my friend, you are in for a taste sensation. Bali is so fortunate to have a large community of expats, all who have brought their expertise to Bali and are serving it up on a plate. My husband and I usually start making reservations weeks in advance. Even in the off peak seasons, the best restaurants are booked out well in advance. You literally run out of days not places to eat!!
Some of my absolute favourites are as follows-
Fancy a drink? Ku De Ta in Seminyak is an upmarket bar and restaurant right on the beach at Seminyak. There is always a really cool vibe there every afternoon as everyone sits back and watches the sun set. I have also enjoyed breakfast which is really casual and many dinners that can be quite fancy. Food, service and ambience is fantastic.
Potato Head. I will never forget the first time I walked into Potato Head. The architecture blew my mind. Potato Head is also on the beach and not too far from Ku De Ta. It’s a bit more casual than Ku De Ta with a large infinity pool, that is often filled with guests cooling off as they sip on a cocktail. Super cool.
If you fancy being very casual, a little playful and open-minded, then Motel Mexicola is noisy, fun and bursting with atmosphere. This eclectic established is themed modern Mexican. Fun place for low key drinks and share plates.
If you want to venture outside of Seminyak, then may I recommend going to Sundara, which is in Jimbaran Bay and located inside The Four Seasons Hotel. Its a very classy beach club and restaurant. The cocktails are fabulous as is the modern asian fusion, the view and of course the service.
Another place to enjoy the sunset is the Rock Bar located on the cliffs at Jimbaran and in the Ayana Resort. This whole place is spectacular. Don’t go to Bali and miss seeing this unique venue. It really must be seen to be believed. Just a couple of tips though. It gets extremely hot there in the afternoon, as it is all designed around watching the sun sink into the sea. Perched on the cliffs, there is not a lot of coverage from the heat. The line ups can be quite long as it relies on a travelator moving their guests from the top of the cliffs down to the bar area. The venue will usually be closed on a rainy night, which can make planning a function a bit of a gamble.
Sunday Brunch in Bali? The St Regis has the most blow your mind Sunday brunch!! Don’t skip this. Note: You might have a sore head Monday morning!
Finally, have I mentioned Omnia Day Club? If you are in Bali with a group of friends and it happens to be your Birthday.. Omnia knows how to show you a good time!
That’s it from me and just a little teaser on all that Bali has to offer.
Will be back with more!
Peace,
Rebel x

Everything you could possibly imagine and some!
Friends of ours who live in Bali have often told us that the W gives it a good run for its money.
